New Families Start Here

Come See a Tuesday Night.

Every Scout in Pack 4071 started the same way — walking in the door not knowing anyone. Here's exactly what to expect, what it costs, and how to register once you're ready.

Why Cub Scouting

More Than a Club

Cub Scouting is a family program built around the den system — small groups of Scouts, grouped by grade, who meet weekly with a den leader to earn adventure loops and pins. Parents are right there alongside their Scout, especially in the younger years.

Scouts advance in rank each year, from Lion in kindergarten through Arrow of Light in fifth grade, earning belt loops and pins along the way in everything from fishing and photography to citizenship and science. It's confidence, curiosity, and the outdoors, built one adventure at a time.

Why Pack 4071

Rooted in Albertville

Pack 4071 is chartered right here in Albertville and built around Sand Mountain's own trails, lakes, and community. Our Scouts camp local, serve local, and grow up knowing the place they live in.

Every fall, our pack holds Pinewood Derby — Scouts design and race their own wooden cars with their families cheering them on. We're on Lake Guntersville for at least one family campout every season, and each spring our Webelos head to day camp at Sequoyah Scout Reservation.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked

Don't see your question here? Send it through the contact form and a leader will get back to you.

No. Most Scouts join with zero outdoor or camping experience — that's exactly what the program teaches.

Annual dues are $85 and cover registration, insurance, and a subscription to Scout Life. Campouts typically run $15–$40 depending on the site. Financial assistance is available — just ask Cubmaster Whitfield, no questions asked.

Not required, but always welcome. Most parents pitch in for a campout or two a year, and any parent interested in a leadership role can complete free BSA youth protection and leader training.

Just a Scout Handbook and a Class A uniform shirt to start — about $60 combined. Backpacks, tents, and cold-weather gear can wait until your Scout has been on a campout or two and knows what they actually need.

Yes. Pack 4071 is linked with Pack 4072 (girls), and both packs share a charter, meeting night, and most events.
